For years, Pet World has proudly hosted the adoption center for Stray Pets in Need of Massachusetts. Because the shelter and adoptions are managed on a volunteer basis, the shelter has its own hours and its own policies.

For more information about the shelter, you can visit the S.P.I.N. website at: www.straypetsinneed.info

Adoption hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Jasper's Story

We are thrilled to announce that our previous featured cats, Rock and Roll, have found a forever home! It took a little while to find the right place for these special needs kitties, but they were adopted and reported to be settled in and happy. The shelter at Pet World is getting very close to having saved 7,000 cats, placing them in permanent loving homes! We hope to reach that number by the end of the summer.

My name is Jasper. I am nine weeks old. I have a problem with my heart and it's called VSD. This means I have a hole in my ventricle. I need to be re-evaluated in six months to see if I still need surgery. Won't you please help me with a donation? Thank you very much!!

VSD stands for ventricular septal defect and it is one of the most common congenital heart defects in cats. A hole or opening exists in the wall or septum between the chambers of the heart. In cases where the opening is large, surgery is required to repair it.

If you would like to donate money to help Jasper get his surgery please contact Marie during shelter hours by calling 508-653-9221 or coming in to visit the store.
